Derwin Owen Biggerstaff, 85 passed away peacefully at his home in Wichita, Ks. on Jan. 9, 2017. He was born on June 19, 1931 in Franklin Co., Texas to William Owen and Lola Mae (Hankins) Biggerstaff. Derwin was retired Civil Service and Naval Reserve. He was a veteran of the US. Airforce, and Navy. He married Phyllis Ball on Sept. 17, 1954. Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Bobby Biggerstaff; a son, Randy Eugene Jones and a grandson, Kyle Leithoff. Surviving him is his wife of 62 years, Phyllis; a son, Derwin Alan (Vickie) Biggerstaff; a daughter, Sandra Leithoff; a sister, Doris Devlin; 7 grandchildren, Angie (Jones) Mattix, Craig (Nicki) Jones, Damien (Andi) Leithoff, Leon Leithoff,Justin A. (Crystal) Biggerstaff, Adrian Owen (Julianna) Biggerstaff, and Amiee Leithoff; eighteen great grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral serivces will be held Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Old Mission Mortuary with Military Honors and entombment at Serenity Mausoleum. Memorials have been chosen by the family to Faith Lutheran School-214 S. Derby Ave, Derby, Kansas 67037.
